We only knew Julia for a short time during our trip together to China last year; what an amazing and intrepid lady. Julia was clearly very proud of her wonderful family but very modest about her many achievements. The way she embraced life and took a great interest in everything was an inspiration to us all. We can only hope that in our 80’s  we would be able to manage a trip across the world independently to a country with a very different culture and language and with a group we had never met before! And yet Julia coped amazingly with it all, asking really interesting questions to all our guides, joining in our banter with good humour and even trying some Chinese medicine when her leg became painful. Julia didn’t let it spoil the rest of her adventure. 

We were so privileged to have known her.
